Anything that is part of the fediverse falls under this category, ActivityPub connects a bunch of websites together which makes it easier to locate platforms that aren't made by big corporations such as Meta social media platforms. I believe that the internet is in a state where soon the bigger names are going to eventually fail and many people are going to find alternatives. I highly recommend looking into integrating your projects to the Fediverse if you can. I'm hoping more forum software will go down this route eventually.
