There's another wave of the anti-adblocking taking place within YouTube. Now you'll receive more ads within your YouTube Premium Lite tier, which is great right...right?!

Google confirms more ads on your paid YouTube Premium Lit...

It is a well-known thing that browser adblockers often fail to play nicely with YouTube these days. However, even if you paid for Premium Lite, Google says it will soon push even more ads.

Later in the same month, Google released its new paid subscription tier called "YouTube Premium Lite." However, this is not a completely ad-free service as users are still served adverts during their YouTube sessions, although the number of ads is far lower than what a user would see on the free app. The idea is quite similar to Netflix's Basic with Ads plan, which was released back in 2022.

YouTube is also fighting back still, with making the user experience worse if it detects that you are using ad-blocking extensions. By not showing the video for several seconds of a blank screen but, giving you a passive aggressive little pop-up "Experiencing Interruptions? Find Out Why" in the lower left of your browser window. Those pesky, dangerous ad-blocking extensions are the enemy and must be squashed.

For all of the vast amount of money and resources YouTube is burning through to fight ad-blocking, it could be better used in fighting malicious and dangerous comment bot spam and better enforcement of those ads that scam users.

The anti-adblocking of YouTube makes me mad. Unless they stop shoving advertisements in my face when using the Premium system, I might resort to using something else.

I am also getting annoyed with the anti-adblock feature. As a user, I want to use the platform and be able to view the videos to my enjoyment without too many ads interrupting.

I am a free user and as long as I do not have to pay for it I am ok waiting for the timer to run out so that I can skip. I If I have to use a entertainment platform and pat for it, I would use something better not youtube.

I must pay for the highest tier of Youtube Premium because I've never seen ads. I think it's lame that Youtube has been cracking down more on adblockers though, I mainly subscribed to Premium so I can listen to my music on my phone without having the app open but I know not everyone wants to pay for premium. I think this will give people more reasons to try and move to different platforms. Maybe people will start making more Peertube instances?

It’s frustrating to see more ads even with YouTube Premium Lite. It kind of defeats the purpose of a “lite” plan meant to be less ad-heavy. Hopefully, they find a better balance soon so we can enjoy content without constant interruptions.
