  1. Now that the dust has settled from the latest gaming showcases, which reveals and trailers are you still excited about? What disappointed you? Did any indie games steal the show from the AAA presentations? I think for me there was the game Out of Words, which is a two person style game similar to It Takes Two. I really liked the hand crafted look to the characters and the overall world.

  2. Just finished diving deep into Call of Cthulhu, and wow... this Lovecraftian psychological horror has been living rent-free in my head since I started playing. For those unfamiliar, you play as Edward Pierce, a down-on-his-luck private investigator who gets pulled into a supernatural mystery on the ominous Darkwater Island. What caught my attention: • The atmosphere is absolutely nailed - Using Unreal Engine 4, the environmental storytelling in that mansion is *chef's kiss* • Deep skill system that actually matters - Your choices in Spot Hidden, Psychology, Strength, and Eloquence genuinely change what you discover • Smart audio design - Instead of constant background mu…

Marketing and networking are equally important to make the game known to players. 4. There's a few different gaming engines that game designers can choose from to make their own games. Unity and Unreal Engine are just two of the biggest gaming engines that have been around for decades. There's other ones such as GameMaker that make game development easier and more accessible to newbies. If you're a indie game developer which engine did you decide to go with? Perhaps you've written your tools from scratch in your programming language of choice? I'm curious to hear all about it!

  14. If you currently own a blog do you prefer to type things up in a word processor before you post it to your website? Or do you prefer to write your drafts on your website and then whenever it's ready to be posted you post it immediately? I just typically save drafts on my blog and just edit and add things to each article before I post it. I've tried using a word processor in the past but the formatting was always off. Though it might be better to do both just incase your website glitches out and you lose your drafts.

  17. As I've been going through and re-editing past live streams of the First 2 Hours, I had in the back of my mind of setting up a database of the games I've reviewed. Having a place that would hold the information of each games, it's associated pictures and videos and including the reviews of the game. Knowing what I wanted to see for this new system I actually caught myself in going through some painful building of something that might not look great or even work out as I wanted, I knew about a plugin that does everything I was looking to have done. 18. For the past 8 months I've been running our front page with the open source software Ghost. It is a great system for blog posts, articles and even for newsletters. After 8 months I'm going through the metrics and seeing how well our reach is for the posted content. The news isn't all that great, over these many months our membership level is stagnant at the same level for over several months. In the beginning when the forums were being run under NodeBB, my idea was to integrate the blog posts comments to live within their posts in the forums. Unfortunately the plugin to get this taken care of wasn't working and had not been updated for the latest version of NodeBB. The f…
