I've only used a VPN a couple of times. The only one I've ever used was Proton's free VPN. I should start using one though for privacy reasons, Though many people say that free VPNs don't work as well.

I personally prefer to have a desktop computer. It's much easier to upgrade a desktop, plus I don't need to take my computer with me anywhere so I don't really need that portability. I do have a few laptops lying around though, I've thought about cleaning them and installing linux on at least one of them.
  3. I heard about this from Austin Evans! Yet again it's another reason for Samsung to go after you money. Even Apple still allows parts to be sold for iPhones on iFixit. I'm glad I decided to go with my Motorola Moto G 5G 2024 instead of a Samsung device. This way if I need to get parts to repair my phone I don't have to go through Motorola for parts I could just go with iFixit. (Though it looks like they don't have parts for my current phone, though it is a brand new model...)
  4. I'm currently dual booting Windows 11 with Lubuntu on my computer. I have Linux Mint installed on a 500 GB hard drive as well, but I'm wanting to get a SSD at some point and move my Linux Mint installation onto that. Then I'd probably stick with using Linux Mint over Lubuntu on my main rig. Not all the programs I use for my projects run on Linux which is why I have to use Windows 11.
  5. Teen Titans is my favorite animated show of all time. As for live action, Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes the cake. I've been watching Supernatural for the first time and my wife and I just started Season 2 but it's really starting to become one of my favorite shows of all time. Other shows I really like are Young Justice, She Ra (the reboot), and Steven Universe.
  6. Most social media platforms are definitely toxic and the more you click on those toxic posts the more the algorithm will feed you that negativity. It's the same on Youtube as well, though definitely not as bad as Facebook or Twitter. You don't usually see this type of negativity on forums, but since they're not as popular as they once were that's probably why we don't see as much negativity. This reminds me of a video I watched earlier, JacobR made a video talking about DK Oldies and how they are trying their hardest to spread positivity but this is just painting a target on their facebook page for more negativity. There's constructive criticism of course, which a few people on Youtube tried to address but then you've got people posting on their page spreading hate and negativity. Sadly that's the nature of social media and popular platforms on the internet.
  7. There's lots of different music genres out there, which ones are your favorites? I'm a sucker for synth music so I love synthwave as well as 80's pop music. I also love classic house music, eurodance, pop punk, 80's hair bands, some 90's country, and video game music. I also have a soft spot for jazz, and I enjoyed listening to the Weather Channel music as a kid and I still do actually lol. My favorite band of all time has to be Blink 182 though, I'd always wanted to see them live someday.

I ran into issues getting DaVinci Resolve installed on my Lubuntu installation. I needed to look for a good free video editor that could run on Lubuntu and Kdenlive was the perfect one! While I do prefer DaVinci Resolve to Kdenlive, this software is a decent one as well especially if you're running Lubuntu. I do recall trying to install it once on one of my Windows PCs in the past and I could never get the software to run properly back then, though this was on a laptop with mediocre specs for video editing. Does anyone here use Kdenlive as their video editor? What features do you like over the competition that made you choose this software?
  9. I stream music via YouTube most of the time. Platforms like Spotify and Pandora doesn't have all the soundtracks I listen to, plus you get access to fan remixes of video game music on platforms like YouTube too. I have premium so I can easily use my phone and have the app running in the background. I also listen to music I have downloaded on my computer at times too via Foobar 2000.

If you're looking for a free video editor I highly recommend checking out DaVinci Resolve! I currently use it on my Windows 11 PC and it's been great! I did get it up and running on Linux Mint as well, so if you're a Linux user you could also get it set up on that platform as well. Though keep in mind you might need to tweak the settings to get audio to work. You also can't snap the window to a different position on your desktop in Linux, so keep that in mind as well. I tried installing it on Lubuntu but it just never wanted to install so I had to go with another software on that installation of Linux so keep that in mind as well if you use Lubuntu. There is a one time fee if you want to fully gain access to everything. As long as you don't go overboard with adding effects to your videos you should be fine, but do keep in mind that if you use a certain amount of effects you will be prompted to pay for the full version. (I rarely use effects in my videos, so I'm not sure the exact number when it comes to the limitation.) Do you use DaVinci Resolve?

I actually just signed up for a Odysee account after reading this thread. Since I have over 300 subscribers on my Youtube channel, I was able to sync my Youtube channel with my Odysee account. Unfortunately not all videos could sync due to limitations set by Odysee but it's great to branch out and try different platforms. I also set up a membership tier on my Odysee account too.

Which phone operating system do you prefer? I've used both an iPhone and an Android device throughout the years and I'm currently rocking a Motorola Moto G 5g 2024. I went back to Android because iPhones are quite expensive and my XR was starting to show it's age a bit. Android devices are much easier to customize than iPhones, plus it's easier to download emulator apps on an Android than iPhone. I will say iPhones usually have better cameras, but the camera on my new Android device is pretty much on par with my iPhone XR. Overall I just think Android is a bit easier to use than iPhone, but I understand people prefer iOS for the sense of security.
  13. I've only used Twitter in the past as well as Facebook. I haven't branched out to Mastodon or Bluesky for my content yet, though I do have accounts on both platforms. I find Mastodon to be a bit confusing to use though, and I think I made the mistake of making two separate accounts on two separate instances of the platform? I used Twitter for a forum I had in the past and it actually did get me a bunch of members but this was back in 2013. I'm going to start using Bluesky to promote my Youtube channel. I also have a Threads account but I rarely log into it.

Apologies if this is in the incorrect section, feel free to move it to a better suited one. I figured it belong here since these devices can be used to create content for your platform. Anyways which capture card do you currently use to capture footage from retro game devices, or any device that uses composite? I use an Elgato Capture Device as well as a Digitnow! recorder. The Elgato isn't compatible with the Sega Genesis unfortunately, but thankfully I have both devices and it works fine on the Digitnow. I just can't livestream content from my real Sega Genesis console though. The Elgato works with every other console. Now keep in mind both devices are not cheap, there are cheaper alternatives but I'm not sure how well they work. I got both devices as gifts for Christmas, and they both do what I need them to.
  15. It's a shame that Roblox decided to force Guilded users to sign up for a Roblox account to continue using the platform. I always thought Guilded had better features than Discord, and a few of the features that Discord has came from Guilded first. Anyways, this is a nice guide regardless of how anyone feels about the change and I believe it does a good job clearing some things up that people might be confused about.
